The SENCO role is a critical one within the school. We need someone with a proven track record in this role to cover for maternity leave starting February/March 2021, which will be a fixed term maternity cover contract either part or full time, minimum 0.6 FTE.
The SENCO element is a minimum of 0.6 FTE with no timetabled lessons. Any additional hours would be classroom based to suit candidate experience and school needs, for example as teaching assistant or cover supervisor. We are happy to consider flexible working arrangements within operational constraints.
The SENCO, under the direction of the Assistant Principal, will:
- Maintain the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school
- Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual students with SEN or a disability
- Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff parents and other agencies
- Take a lead in deploying tactics to improve educational outcomes for students with SEN or a disability
