Both Stagecoach and Country Lion, our transport providers, have put in place extensive enhanced measures to keep buses clean and safe so you can feel confident about using them. There is an enhanced cleaning regime which means buses are cleaned daily, with a particular focus on key touch points. We would still advise washing hands before and after travelling. We would also suggest students carry some hand sanitiser, which they can use after boarding the bus and again when leaving.
Face coverings are required when travelling on our buses, unless your son/daughter is exempt under government guidance. If travelling on Stagecoach you can apply for an exemption card online at: https://www.stagecoachbus.com/promos-and-offers/national/journey-assistance-cards
Stagecoach have informed us that they are doing their best to provide the capacity needed and some of their services are going to be designated as ‘school only’ (these are clearly marked in the relevant timetables and routes 82 and 83 are included in this category). In-line with current government guidance on school transport, every seat can be occupied. On other services, such as the 88 from Northampton, they will have additional buses and drivers available, which may be used to help with demand if required, however resources are limited.
Please bear in mind we and the transport providers are planning and working with authorities based on the current and latest guidance. Government at both a national and local level are still making decisions and indeed the pandemic is evolving which, means things can change quickly. So please keep an eye on our website and also that of Stagecoach (https://www.stagecoachbus.com/) for the latest information.
