Aston Martin STEM Design Challenge

Our Y11 students stepped into the world of Formula 1 design and decision‑making today, working with Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team and Driven By Us on a high‑impact STEM challenge.

In teams of six, students were tasked with designing and launching their own sustainable Formula 1 car, balancing performance with environmental responsibility. They explored everything from powertrain choices, aerodynamics and vehicle dynamics to sustainability, marketing, sponsorship and branding.

Each team pitched their final concept to panels of judges, who challenged them to defend their thinking - questioning how sustainability was embedded, how well aerodynamic principles were applied, and how confidently powertrain decisions were selected and justified.

We are enormously proud of the ambition, teamwork and professionalism shown by students throughout the challenge today. Experiences like this bring learning to life and show our students exactly what they are capable of when learning mirrors the real world - capturing the very ethos of the UTC approach.
