The F1 in Schools competition concluded its West Midlands regional finals last week!

F1 in Schools is a STEM competition that inspires students to design, build and race miniature Formula 1 cars, fostering STEM skills and innovation. Alongside cars, the teams also created engineering and enterprise portfolios, as well as verbal presentations and pit display boards to display brand identity. Over the last few months, all the teams have worked incredibly hard to create these and present them to industry-leading judges.

The UTC had 5 teams competing across the development and professional classes: Storm Silverstone (Yr 13), Silverstone Force Racing (Yr 13), Revolution Racing (Yr 12), Silverstone Cyclones (Yr 12) and Silver Sonix (Yr 11). The Yr 13 teams acted as mentors for those in the younger years - passing down knowledge and advice to aid them in their journeys to the competition. This was an amazingly rewarding experience and one which helped calm some nerves on the day!

Massive congratulations to Revolution Racing who came 2nd in the development class and therefore go to the National Finals! Storm Silverstone also came home with an award for Research and Development over both classes!

We are incredibly proud of all the teams and with ourselves at the effort and time put into creating some incredible presentations and pit displays, and we can't wait to see how Revolution Racing get on at Nationals! It's been an amazing experience to be a part of, and we hope it continues for future years to come, expanding further at Silverstone UTC.
