SEND

Silverstone UTC takes a whole-school approach to the inclusion of learners with a range of learning and medical needs. The college offers and delivers a broad and balanced curriculum for all learners by embedding Inclusive Quality First Teaching practice across all year groups.

A child or young person is identified as having SEND if they have a learning difficulty or disability which calls for special educational provision to be made for them.

A child of compulsory school age or a young person has a learning difficulty or disability if they:

  • Have a significantly greater difficulty in learning than the majority of others of the same age; or

  • Have a disability which prevents or hinders them from making use of facilities generally provided for others of the same age in mainstream schools or post-16 education.

The college’s SEND Policy and SEND Information Report set out how learners with SEND are supported at Silverstone UTC. These can be found on the Policies webpage.

The Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENDCo) at Silverstone UTC is Christie Norris. She can be contacted by email at: christienorris@utc-silverstone.co.uk
