TDI Challenge Regional Heat

On Tuesday, Silverstone UTC was proud to host the regional heat of the TDI Challenge in partnership with the Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA).

The event provided our Year 11 and Year 13 students with an exciting opportunity to present their final Engineering and Product Design projects to an expert panel of industry professionals. Students demonstrated not only an impressive level of technical knowledge, but also outstanding innovation, creativity and professionalism throughout their presentations.

The judging panel included Andrew Ward from Haas Automation; Laura Crawford, CEO and Publisher at Machinery & Manufacturer; John Turland from the National Physical Laboratory; Josh Dugdale, Head of Technical and Additive Manufacturing UK at the MTA; Katie Beazley-Long from the MTA; and Danny Reed from the MTA.

We would like to thank every member of the panel for giving their time, sharing their expertise and providing valuable feedback to our students.

Reflecting on the event, Laura Crawford said:

“The young people presenting their engineering projects with such confidence, creativity and technical excellence… it was quite something.”

She continued:

“One thing’s for sure — the future of engineering is brighter when we continue to encourage and support diverse talent as if the sky is the limit.”

We are enormously proud of every student who took part in the TDI Challenge. Their ingenuity, creativity and technical ability were matched by the confidence and professionalism with which they communicated their ideas.

It was a brilliant day celebrating the achievements of our students and the next generation of engineering and manufacturing talent.
