Pastoral Team
As young people grow older, they encounter a range of challenges and pressures that may differ from those experienced by previous generations. Ignoring these issues is not an option—open and honest communication is essential in helping them navigate the risks they may face and the pressures they may feel. By working together, we can support young people in staying focused on their future goals, maintaining a positive mindset, and staying on track to achieve their full potential.

At Silverstone UTC, student well-being is a top priority, and our dedicated pastoral and SEND team provides specialized support to ensure every student thrives academically, socially, and emotionally. Our pastoral team offers guidance and mentorship, creating a supportive environment where students feel safe, valued, and heard. The SEND team works closely with students who have additional learning needs, offering tailored support and interventions to help them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. By fostering a culture of inclusivity and resilience, the pastoral and SEND team at Silverstone UTC ensures that all students receive the care and support they need to succeed in their education and future careers.

Safeguarding
Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do at Silverstone UTC

At Silverstone UTC, we are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our students. We strive to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where every young person is valued and protected. Our staff are trained to recognise signs of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and radicalisation, ensuring that concerns are addressed promptly and appropriately to provide effective support, protection, and justice.

As part of a wider safeguarding system, we work closely with the West Northamptonshire Safeguarding Children Partnership and other key agencies to ensure the wellbeing of our students. When concerns arise, we act decisively, making referrals where necessary and contributing to ongoing assessments and interventions to support each child’s needs.

We maintain a proactive safeguarding culture, underpinned by the principle that ‘it could happen here.’ The best interests of the child are always our priority. We recognise that abuse can occur both between adults and children and among peers. Through education, training, and clear procedures, we work to prevent harm and respond effectively to any safeguarding concerns.

The safety and welfare of our students is our highest priority. Every young person—regardless of age, gender, ability, background, or identity—has an equal right to protection. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and all staff, visitors, and stakeholders play a vital role in keeping our students safe. By placing students at the centre of our safeguarding approach, we ensure that their wellbeing and best interests remain at the heart of everything we do.

Online Safety
At Silverstone UTC, we prioritise online safety education to ensure our students develop the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. Through our PSHE curriculum, students explore key topics such as cyberbullying, digital footprints, online privacy, and the risks associated with social media and gaming.
These lessons provide practical guidance on protecting personal information, recognising online threats, and making informed decisions. Additionally, we reinforce these messages through assemblies, where students engage with real-world case studies, expert-led discussions, and national awareness campaigns such as Safer Internet Day.
By embedding online safety into both PSHE and whole-school initiatives, we equip our students with the confidence and awareness to stay safe online, both in school and beyond.
