Our first Careers Fair event took place on Wednesday 16th March. Students across all year groups toured the exhibitors’ stands during the afternoon and there was a real buzz around the building as students talked with different organisations about their future plans and learned about the opportunities available to them. New research released today by the Baker Dearing Educational Trust shows that for two thirds of parents their biggest fear is that their child will not find a job when they leave education. At the end of only its second year of business, Silverstone UTC students have some great results to be proud of. On the back of an Ofsted “good” inspection in the spring of 2015, the results clearly show that students have made better progress at the UTC than they had been making in their previous schools. Silverstone UTC was subject to its first Ofsted Inspection in April 2015 and the report which has now been released shows that we have been graded “Good” overall and “Good” in all areas that were inspected with some “outstanding” features. For the Year 11 Engineering students’ maintenance unit, they had to complete a maintenance and diagnostic activity using equipment and data provided by the team. The year 11 students had to identify the equipment required and risk assess the activity. They had to follow a brief that they were given and carry out the task.
